Toronto ON – (July 26, 2012) Artistic director and CEO, Bengt Jörgen is delighted to announce the final show of the 2011-12 season which will be performed by the Junior Company. Ballet Jörgen Canada’s Junior Company will showcase their work to the community on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 5:00 pm at their George Brown College studio. The Junior company will be joined by a number of the company’s professional dancers in an intimate studio environment while presenting an exciting mix of traditional classical and new contemporary works.
Junior Company members includes Annelie Lilemark, Ayva Rossouw-Holland, Eleanor Bull, Fiona Drewbrook, Levi Blad, Justine Fraser, Heather Lumsden-Ruegg, Kanae Akatsuk and Gabriel Ritzman who will dance in new work by Malgorzata Nowacka, a former student of George Brown Dance and Hanna Kent. Excerpts will include ‘Good Morning” by Derek Sangster as well as a sneak preview at Bengt Jörgen’s most recent creation of Swan Lake that will launch the company’s 25th Anniversary season.
The intensive 5-week Junior Company program is designed to simulate the life of a professional dancer. Junior Company dancers learn company repertoire and participate in the creation of new works while taking daily ballet and supplementary modern classes to round out their training. This year’s program attracted dancers from around the world including Sweden, Japan and Brazil.
