For Immediate Release

Ottawa, Ontario, October 7, 2015: Canada‘s Ballet Jörgen has created its own unique rendition of the iconic Sleeping Beauty for the 2015-16 season, and is bringing the classical ballet to Ottawa on Thursday, October 22 at 7:30 p.m. for a one-time performance.

With over 30 performers and set in a mystical garden filled with flowers, birds and enchanting characters, Sleeping Beauty is an exhilarating showcase of great dancing. This major new ballet tells the romantic story of Aurora and her prince complete with its inherently magical qualities and dazzling choreography.

Sleeping Beauty is choreographed by Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s founder, CEO and Artistic Director Bengt Jörgen. Known for his transformation of classical ballets into cohesive, artfully crafted and emotionally resonant productions, Bengt interprets the famous fairytale as a nature allegory manifesting in a tug of war between winter and summer, darkness and light. The ballet follows the young woman Aurora through an enchanted world of contrasts in the mystical Garden of Eden.

Like all of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s major productions, this ballet is designed to include young dancers from Ottawa’s local dance schools who auditioned for their roles last month.

Tickets are available at www.centrepointetheatre.ca or by contacting the box office at 613-580-2700.
