For Immediate Release
Ottawa, Ontario, November 12, 2015: Canada’s Ballet Jorgen is back in Ottawa with its Nutcracker for five performances scheduled for Centrepointe Theatre on December 12 (1pm and 4:30 pm shows), and Shenkman Arts Centre on December 13 (7 pm show) and 14 (1:30 pm and 7 pm shows). Through the company’s Nutcracker Youth Education Program, local dancers will again perform alongside the professionals giving the young dancers the thrill of a lifetime, and the audience the pleasure of watching this delightful family spectacle.
The Nutcracker, a Canadian Tradition is choreographed by renowned Artistic Director of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, Bengt Jörgen, and takes its inspiration from Group of Seven paintings housed at the prominent McMichael Canadian Art Collection in Kleinberg. The famous Canadian landscape paintings showcased in stunning 30 foot backdrops are complimented by over 100 richly colourful costumes designed by Sue LePage. The magical dream journey begins on Christmas Eve 1912 in Bisset, Ontario where newly arrived Klara experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks, Mounties and creatures of the woods.
Tickets are available online, on the phone or in person at the Box Office at Centrepointe Theatre and Shenkman Arts Centre. Prices range from $38-$53, with discounts for students, seniors and groups. These are eyeGO performances.
