He has been described as having a “magical quality to his movements” and CBJ is thrilled that Kevin is part of our 2018 Summer Dance. Kevin is such an accomplished dancer and choreographer, I asked him what can we expect from your creation and what do you hope to accomplish for the Junior Company? He brilliantly summed it up for me explaining that he focuses more on the process of his work and less on expectations.

“I am curious about how creation and diverse application of technical form informs everyone I work with. My approach will always be rooted in diverse applications of physical research, technical executions, creative practices and research in a “kreative community”. A central question is how do we embody our physio-mental capacities, move with intent and the poly-rhythms of the Diaspora. Africa will steer Western dance traditions in the eye and have interesting conversations with the Caribbean. Moving traditions into contemporaneity.”

Kevin will create his first piece for the Junior Company July 16-27.
