Bringing the magic of ballet to the children at the IWK
April 13, Halifax – Ballet Jörgen Canada is planning a visit to the Children’s ward at the IWK on Monday, April 18th before its performances on Tuesday at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium. As part of the company’s priorities in outreach, the company is approaching the community to promote dance to those most in need of a laugh and a smile.
From 9:30 – 11:30 AM Monday morning, some of the company dancers will entertain children in the _______ ward by engaging them, in costume, in some of the fun of the performance of Coppélia: A Comedy with Love. Children will have a chance to meet the “Tweedy Bird,” “Spanish,” and the “Electric Guitar,” three of the most outlandish costumes and characters in the show.
Join us at ______ for a photo opportunity with the characters, and don’t forget that Coppélia: A Comedy with Love takes place on Tuesday, April 19th at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium.
About Ballet Jörgen Canada
Ballet Jörgen Canada is the only major Canadian ballet company with a repertoire exclusively of original works. For almost 25 years, the organization has sought to advance the art and appreciation of ballet and Canadian choreography through performance, educational experiences and outreach.
As “Canada’s Local Ballet Company” Ballet Jörgen Canada shares the art form with more Canadian communities than any other dance company. Through performances, education and outreach programming, Ballet Jörgen Canada reaches over 50,000 people each year – one third of whom are under the age of 18.
