Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s Mission for Education

The mission of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s Education department is to build dance knowledge and skill across age groups and geographies – with a focus on Education in every community we perform in and with our strategic partner, George Brown College.

Our Fundamental Value in Dance Education

STRONG, CONTROLLED, POLISHED PROEFESSIONAL TECHNIQUE SETS YOU FREE TO DANCE YOUR ART

At Canada’s Ballet Jörgen and George Brown Dance we value:

  • Clean dance technique with proper alignment executed with control, detail and professional poise
  • Disciplined training as the building block for life-long technical, artistic and personal growth
  • Dancers of all forms who commit to shared values, bringing artistic integrity to the whole
  • Personal commitment, individual expression and dramatic integrity
  • Learning together and from each other – we are home to many different dance forms

Our dance techniques:

In Classical Ballet we use professional standards with a faculty knowledgeable in a range of teaching methods including Vaganova, Royal Academy of Dancing and Cecchetti.

In Modern we use professional standards with a faculty knowledgeable in a range of teaching methods including Graham, Limone and Horton techniques and we include training in Contact Dance.

In Jazz we focus on the core elements of classical jazz technique, using different styles to hone the movement versatility of our dancers

In Hip Hop we use rhythm and self- expression to bring out skills in the most current urban dance forms

We include training in Vocals and Acting – our dancers will have breadth and dramatic integrity in their artistic performance skills.

We commission Choreographers from any genre to create unique, challenging and artistically defining works.

We encourage all dancers to be exposed to and to explore the many and wonderful forms of dance the world of art offers us.
