Adult Ballet

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is pleased to offer ballet classes for both beginners and more experienced dancers. Whether you have always wanted to learn ballet, are working on refining your dance technique or are simply looking for a chance to stay active while at home, this is the perfect way to keep the beauty of ballet in your life in a fun and friendly class.

Adult Ballet Drop-In Classes

We will take you through a 45 minute barre with some centre practice, focusing on honing strength, flexibility, and rhythm. Each class will conclude with an optional 15 minutes of body conditioning to increase your strength for ballet technique. The class is open to adults from all experience levels, but we suggest a minimum of about one year of previous dance experience.

Date: Thursdays

Time: 7:00-8:00pm EDT

Via Zoom (a link will be sent 30 minutes prior to the start of class).

Fees: $15.00 +HST per class OR purchase a 5 class card* for $60.00 +HST *Class card is valid for 3 months from date of purchase.

First time students must complete a Registration Form.

All students must complete a sign-up form & pay prior to each class in order to receive the Zoom link.

Students are asked to have something to hold on to that simulates a ballet barre (ie. a countertop, a chair, an ironing board, etc.) and enough space to do a pique arabesque.

Please wear whatever you are most comfortable in so long as you can move freely. If ballet slippers are not available to you, please wear socks but be conscious of extra slipperiness.

Hannah Mae Cruddas

Adult Ballet Drop-In Classes Teacher: Hannah Mae Cruddas

A native of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Hannah Mae began her dance training with the Maritime Conservatory of Performing Arts School of Dance and the Leica Hardy School of Dance before joining Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto. Hannah Mae has been fortunate to receive various awards and scholarships including The Janice and Brian Flemming scholarship and the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts through the Nova Scotia Talent Trust. She is currently in her 10th season with Canada’s Ballet Jörgen and has danced in many of Jörgen’s works including Anastasia and Coppélia (in the title roles), Swan Lake (Pas de Trois), Romeo and Juliet (Lady Capulet)and Cinderella (Lead Fairy), and had the opportunity to create the role of the Lilac Fairy in Jörgen’s Sleeping Beauty. In 2019, the title role of Anne of Green Gables – The Ballet® was created for Hannah Mae by Bengt Jörgen, C.M. Hannah Mae has taught classes for Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, Mocean Dance Company, DAREarts, and numerous dance schools across Canada, the United States, and Brazil. For the past ten years, she has toured with CBJ, bringing dance to all corners of North America through outreach programs, masterclasses, and performances.


Absolute Beginner Adult Ballet Program

This 6-week program will introduce you to the fundamentals of ballet through a fun and friendly class taught by a CBJ dancer, Annelie Liliemark. Each week, students will work through exercises to develop knowledge, strength, and technique. No dance experience necessary.  

Date: Tuesdays, April 13-May 18, 2021

Time: 7:00-8:00pm EDT

Via Zoom (a link will be sent 30 minutes prior to the start of class).

Fees: $85.00 +HST

Students are asked to have something to hold on to that simulates a ballet barre (ie. a countertop, a chair, an ironing board, etc.) and enough space to do a pique arabesque or jumping jacks in a circle.

Please wear whatever you are most comfortable in so long as you can move freely. If ballet slippers are not available to you, please wear socks but be conscious of extra slipperiness.

Annelie Liliemark

Absolute Beginner Adult Ballet Teacher: Annelie Liliemark

Annelie began her training at Balettakademien in Stockholm, Sweden in 1998 and joined the Royal Swedish Ballet School in 2002. She is the recipient of the Agda Cecilia Rilton Scholarship (2007) and the Carina Ari Scholarship (2008, 2009). From 2010 to 2012 Annelie was a member of the Royal Swedish Ballet where she performed in The Nutcracker, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Swan Lake, The Rite of Spring and Coppélia. Annelie’s repertoire with CBJ includes Bridesmaid in Romeo & Juliet, Stepsister in Cinderella, Blue Bird in Sleeping Beauty, Raccoon & Lady Birch in The Nutcracker: A Canadian Tradition, and Pas de deux.” Annelie has been teaching master classes across Canada for CBJ since 2016 and became a full faculty member for our Summer Intensive IV and Junior Company programs in 2018. Annelie is excited to share her love of ballet and movement with avid beginners!
