Romeo & Juliet Local Participant Program

Opportunities for young dancers

The Romeo & Juliet Local Participant Program gives young dancers the opportunity
to perform with a professional dance company. They interact with professional dancers
and gain invaluable performance experience as they dance with Ballet Jörgen.

Ballet Jörgen Canada is looking for 6-10 student dancers and 2 theatre students to participate with the company in their performance of Romeo & Juliet

The cast will be assembled from local area students, based on a recommendation by their dance/theatre teachers. The cast will rehearse with the Company for 1.5 hours the day before the show and 2 or 3 hours prior to the performance.

The candidates need to learn the choreography quickly, listen well, follow directions, and retain them easily. They must have good stage presence and carry themselves well; there are few ‘formal’ dance steps.

Their roles will include –Villager children & teenagers, Ballroom guests & servants and Guards.

*All roles and requirements are subject to change. COVID protocols and parameters will be determined by each individual venue and presenter.*
