George Brown Dance Announces IN HÄUS 2018

“New creations, along with explorations in all genres, allow for boundless ideas and creative offerings. Audiences really seem to enjoy IN HÄUS year after year.”

Mark your calendars! George Brown Dance will be swinging its studio doors open on December 13 & 14 to present the first show of its performance season, IN HÄUS.

IN HÄUS has proven to be a dynamic performance experience for GBD dancers and audiences alike. Each year, chosen GBD alumni return to create new works on current students from all 3 dance programs, selected through auditions for the George Brown Dance Ensemble. IN HÄUS 2018 will showcase 5 new works created by GBD alumni Irma Villafuerte, Nicola Wall, Madi Gibson, Alexandra Woodley, and Elise Tigges.

“IN HÄUS always proves to be a wonderfully diverse program,” describes GBD Associate Program Director, Derek Sangster. “New creations, along with explorations in all genres, allow for boundless ideas and creative offerings. Audiences really seem to enjoy IN HÄUS year after year.”

This year’s show will bring back a special addition from last year! Working in partnership with Canada’s Ballet Jörgen, GBD students will perform an excerpt from CBJ Repertoire. This feature of IN HÄUS 2018 reflects just one of the many exciting outcomes of CBJ’s unique relationship with George Brown Dance.

IN HÄUS is a must-see performance if you are considering post-secondary dance education or are simply curious about George Brown Dance. Not only will you get a sneak peak of our studios and programs, but you’ll also witness GBD’s commitment to building community and providing continued opportunities for its talented graduates. Reflecting on the meaning of IN HäUS to GBD’s programming, Derek Sangster remarks: “Current students are afforded not only a performance opportunity, but the privilege of crafting and creating new works in a safe, creative environment. The connections between our graduates and present students build on our community and commitment.”

IN HÄUS is a free performance. Shows will be held at 6pm on December 13 & 14 at our studios: George Brown College, Casa Loma Campus, 160 Kendal Avenue, Building C, Studio C, Toronto, ON.
