New creations and remounts of master work

Performance Opportunities

George Brown Dance believes that a well-rounded education includes participation in extracurricular experiences that augment classroom/studio teaching. Each term, our student dancers are given the opportunity to showcase their work, along with the works of both faculty and guest choreographers, as part of an annual performance season. We maintain partnerships and ongoing professional relationships with a diverse range of artists and dance companies. Students have opportunities to perform new commissions or remounts of work by acclaimed Canadian choreographers and talented emerging creators. The performance opportunities below collectively involve the entire student body in new creations and remounts of master work.

IN HÄUS

IN HÄUS offers selected alumni the opportunity to move through all stages of creating and producing original choreography. With guidance from the Associate Director, alumni audition current dancers, schedule rehearsals, create choreography, produce publicity materials, find music/musical support, select costumes, and stage their pieces.

This initiative offers graduates the opportunity to directly link their educational experiences to their post-graduation, professional lives. Selected dancers from all programs perform these new works.

IN HÄUS 2022 will take place on Thursday, December 8th & Friday, December 9th at 6:30pm in Studio C at the George Brown College Casa Loma Campus (160 Kendal Ave, Building C, Rm 126A). This event is free.

UNLEASHED

Unleashed regularly premieres works by guest choreographers, faculty and students, and selectively remounts significant works. This show offers all students pre-professional performance and production experience, and is the highlight of our season.

EMERGENCE

In an informal studio setting, second-year Dance Performance students present their own choreographic work as a culmination of the Composition course, designed to guide them through the choreographic process, including conception, creation, rehearsal, and performance.

NEXT STAGE

This performance features our graduating Commercial Dance students performing Jazz, Hip Hop, Chorus Repertoire, and Vocal and Acting works as their rigorous training draws to an end and they prepare to take on the world of dance.
