Why your Support Matters

Canada’s Ballet Jörgen was formed to support the development of new Canadian ballets and make ballet more inclusive and accessible for artists and audiences alike. We have had the privilege of living out this vision for over 30 years through performance, education, and community engagement across all ten Canadian provinces. Your support ensures that we can continue to offer programming that grows and transforms the cultural landscape of communities from coast to coast.

Our Giving Levels

First Position ($100 – $249)

A gift of $120 (For as little as $10 a month) will cover the costs of one outreach performance in an elementary school with highlights from some of our ballets. Such interactive performance provides an opportunity to learn about ballet as a storytelling medium. The children learn basic positions, discover how to convey emotions through movement, try out some dance steps and, of course, see excerpts from ballets performed by 2 or 3 professional dancers!

Second Position ($250 – $499)

A gift of $300 (monthly gift of $25 or more) will cover the costs for one local child to perform in our full-length ballets onstage with the Company, as part of our Local Participant program. Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s Local Participant program offers young dancers across Canada the opportunity to perform alongside the company’s professional dancers in our major productions. Our work inspires young Canadians to embrace ballet and is a proven success in creating memories to last a lifetime.

As a thank you, you will receive a poster from the ballet your child performs in, autographed by one of the principal dancers!

Third Position ($500 – $999)

A gift of $600 (monthly gift of $50 or more) will provide one scholarship for a summer student to participate in our summer programs. At CBJ, we offer annual summer programs for young dancers at various levels and intensive training for advanced dancers preparing for a career as a professional dancer.

As a thank you, you will receive an invitation to an in-studio rehearsal and a poster autographed by one of the principal dancers.

Fourth Position ($1,000 – $2,499)

A gift of $1,200 (monthly gift of $100 or more) will give one aspiring young dancer the opportunity to join the Junior Company and to learn CBJ choreography from our repertiore. Junior Company allows dancers (aged 16 and up) to immerse themselves into a professional dance company environment; this program is for the dancer seeking their first professional full- time job in a dance company. Dancers will work directly with the artistic director Bengt Jörgen to create new works, hone repertoire and put professional poise to technique, etiquette and work habits.

As a thank you, you will receive a backstage tour after a performance in the city closest to you, an invitation to an in-studio rehearsal, and a poster autographed by one of the principal dancers.

Fifth Position ($2,500 – $4,999)

A gift of $2,500 (monthly gift of $210 or more) will support our mission to provide outreach and education programming in a remote underserved community. Your donation will help us to inspire, enrich, and connect with communities through dance.

As a thank you, you will receive:

  • an invitation to our next Season Launch Party
  • a backstage tour after a performance in the city closest to you
  • an invitation to an in-studio rehearsal
  • a poster autographed by one of the principal dancers.

Plié ($5,000-7,499)

CBJ’s diversity lends itself to short works that capture an idea or a unique set of physical traits of our dancers. We will retain guest choreographers to create standalone pas de deux to showcase our dancers and add to education and performance tours to delight our audiences.

Each work will cost approximately $5,000, and we seek to add five of them to our repertoire this year.

You will directly impact the lives of young dancers, giving them the opportunity to dance onstage with a professional ballet company; truly a dream come true for these young aspirants!
