In addition, Canada’s Ballet Jörgen is pleased to announce that the role of the Moose will be played by Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanic at the 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon matinee, and by Councillor Zyg Janecki at the 7 p.m. evening performance.
“We are delighted to be joined by Mayor Vrbanic and Councillor Janecki, as well as local dance students and to be reunited with the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony in the two Nutcracker performances. The enthusiastic community involvement creates excitement and really enhances the ballet experience for both audience and dancers alike,” said Bengt Jörgen, choreographer and Artistic Director of Canada’s Ballet Jörgen
The Nutcracker, a Canadian Tradition is choreographed by Bengt Jörgen, and takes its inspiration from Group of Seven paintings housed at Kleinburg’s world-renowned McMichael Canadian Art Collection. The magical dream journey begins on Christmas Eve 1912 in Bisset, Ontario where newly arrived Klara experiences winter landscapes filled with snowflakes, lumberjacks, Mounties and creatures of the woods. Hailed as, “Adorable” by Michael Crabb in The National Post, and as “a refreshing … Canadian version of this magnificent ballet” by audiences, Canada’s Ballet Jörgen’s The Nutcracker, A Canadian Tradition is a national treasure suitable for all ages.
